For the third year running, Apolis will be releasing their Indigo Wool Chore Jacket. Admittedly, it isn’t the first thing on the minds of most people right now as the sun is still shining, but come fall and winter, you’ll be glad to have this jacket in your wardrobe. The chore jacket is handcrafted in California from a 13.5 oz Italian wool dyed with two different indigos, both subtly varied to keep texture and color unique in each piece. It’s styled after a classic work wear jacket, there are four exterior pockets – two with flaps and two open – with a hidden pocket inside the lapel for phones and pens. The jacket also includes subtle details including buffalo horn buttons, raglan shoulders, a rounded collar, and antique nickel reinforcement rivets. As with many things we feature on the Facing Page, the aging process of this jacket is one of the best parts. You can set the dye at any point in the process by giving it a cold water wash, much like with any raw denim indigo dye, and as with the raw denim it’s best to continue to age the jacket for as long as possible before you give it the first wash (though you may want to try to avoid lighter shirts for the first week or two as the dye can run). They’re available from the Apolis store, and should start to ship near the beginning of September.
