We Hear: August 2013

It’s been a while since we put forth a selection of what we’ve been listening to so there are a few songs worth pushing that have built up. First off is a new release from New Zealanders the Naked and Famous, a favourite at the Facing Page. They’ve made appearances on We Hear before, and are reappearing this time with “Hearts Like Ours” from their upcoming release In Rolling Waves due out September 16. Second is the newest release from British singer Natalia Kills, “Saturday Night”. While the lyrics may not be the happiest, the well crafted melody makes it an enjoyable listen. Third up is “Love in the Sky” – the most recent single to make its way onto the internet from Kissland, the Weeknd’s sophomore release and first “proper album”. Fourth up is Scandinavian group Efterklang’s “The Ghost” from their 2012 release Piramida, a nicely orchestralized piece that makes great background music but also holds its own when it’s the primary listening focus. Finally, an older number, the Twelves remix of the Black Kids song “I’m Not Going to Teach Your Boyfriend How to Dance With You.”
